What’s next for the north-south corridor?

The State and Federal governments have today announced the successful tenderer and extension to the Torrens to Torrens project, but the State Liberals want to know what’s happening next for the entire north-south corridor.

It’s been 18 months since Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he wanted to work with South Australia to develop the entire north-south corridor in the next ten years.

“The State Liberals support upgrading the entire corridor, which will benefit both commuters and businesses,” said Shadow Minister for Infrastructure Vickie Chapman.

“For years, the Weatherill Labor Government has had a disjointed approach to transport and infrastructure that has failed to deliver outcomes for South Australians.

“The Weatherill Labor Government needs to take advantage of the Prime Minister’s offer and develop a plan to ensure that an upgrade to the entire corridor becomes a reality. “Travelling from Adelaide’s north to south has become increasingly difficult as our city has expanded.

“Easing the bottlenecks that currently plague traffic movement along the key north-south corridor for Adelaide will improve productivity and reduce costs in the wider South Australian economy.

“The Weatherill Labor Government needs to take action and ensure that this important project does not fall by the wayside.”
