Jay Weatherill and Tom Koutsantonis must today come forward and address serious allegations that the State Labor Government manipulated tender processes as political retribution against businesses opposed to the state bank tax.
“The allegations aired on radio this morning are very serious,” said Deputy State Liberal Leader Vickie Chapman.
“Any suggestion that a member or members of the State Government manipulated tender processes so that companies who were opposed the bank tax missed out on government contracts must be categorically refuted by the Premier and Treasurer today.
“If Jay Weatherill and Tom Koutsantonis do not come forward today and address these very serious allegations, the South Australian public will take a very dim view of what has been alleged.
“Of course there have already been examples of ‘political payback’ by Labor against industry groups opposed to the bank tax, with the withdrawal of grant funding for specific and worthy programs which were to be run by the Property Council and Business SA.
“If it emerges that Labor has indeed sought retribution against proud South Australian businesses who dared to speak out against the bank tax, it will demonstrate what most people already know about this government – it is rotten to the core.”
