The State Liberals have called on Treasurer Koutsantonis to put his money where his mouth is and fund all of Labor’s short term transport infrastructure promises in next week’s State Budget.
The following projects are examples of projects listed as priorities for the next five years in the State Transport Plan published in 2013:
Build a tram loop around the Adelaide CBD
Complete the electrification of the Gawler train line
Improve O-Bahn access to the CBD (O-Bahn tunnel)
Convert the Outer Harbor train line to a tram service
Convert the Grange Train line to a tram service
Mike Turtur Bikeway Goodwood overpass
Shadow Minister for Infrastructure Vickie Chapman said that given Transport Minister Mr Koutsantonis spent months spruiking Labor’s unfunded $36 billion transport dream, he now had responsibility for backing up his words with funding.
“Talk is cheap and it is time for Mr Koutsantonis to put his money where his mouth is and fund the projects he personally promised South Australia that a Labor Government would build,” said Ms Chapman.
“Let’s not forget that the Weatherill Labor Government has spent 12 years making and breaking promises.
“If Mr Koutsantonis fails to fund these projects in the budget next week he has failed in his job as Treasurer and he has failed South Australians.”
