Labor may have exposed taxpayers to TAFE students class action

Minister Close and the Weatherill Labor Government’s scandalous mismanagement of TAFE may have exposed South Australian taxpayers to a class action law suit.

"The State Liberals first asked serious questions about the TAFE accreditation scandal back on 26 September and instead of taking immediate action the Labor Party sneered and laughed,” said Deputy State Liberal Leader Vickie Chapman.

“This sneering reaction is a disgrace – it is Labor’s fault for potentially exposing taxpayers to a class action which the impacted students may launch.

“The latest education scandal besetting this State Government follows revelations about the air safety training bungle which emerged in September, but which the Government was aware of back in May.

“Labor has butchered TAFE’s reputation and yet Minister Close has refused to take responsibility.

“It is very concerning that Minister Close’s mismanagement of TAFE has led to this situation where hundreds of students have been impacted and the flow-on costs for taxpayers could be astronomic.

“The Minister must take responsibility for this failure and resign.”
