The Weatherill Labor Government must tell South Australians whether or not the delay to Adelaide Casino’s expansion is due to delays with the new Festival Centre car park.
Skycity has today revealed that core construction of the Adelaide Casino expansion is now unlikely to occur until at least early 2017.
Construction on a new Festival Centre car park – a project between the Weatherill Labor Government and Walker Corporation – has been delayed until July this year.
This is almost one year late.
In August last year, Deputy Premier John Rau said that the start of car park construction was “very, very close” with building work to start in as little as one month’s time (The Advertiser, 01/08/2015).
“Have delays with the new Festival Centre car park delayed the Adelaide Casino expansion?” asked Shadow Minister for State Development Vickie Chapman.
“To date, the Weatherill Labor Government has not given a sufficient explanation as to why there has been such a significant delay with the new Festival Centre car park.
“The Weatherill Labor Government has a history of failing to deliver projects on time and on budget.
“If Government projects are now starting to hold up other infrastructure projects, then that is simply not good enough.”
